With a mere 4 days left until Inauguration Day, those of us who oppose Donald Trump can no longer live in denial or avoidance. The day we’ve been dreading is finally upon us. Some people’s denial about Trump’s impending presidency has consisted of dreaming that it was going to be overturned somehow. They’ve been hoping that someone would magically intervene and say, “Wait, it doesn’t count, because of the Russians/Comey/he’s just too big a baby.”
But I’ve been in a different kind of denial, where I’ve felt like this transition period would just continue indefinitely somehow, like we’d stay forever in this extremely bizarre state of limbo where Obama is a lame duck and Trump is the President-elect, and they both seem to be making policy at the same time. So that yeah, Trump is doing a whole bunch of hare-brained stuff and even making some dangerous declarations on his Twitter machine, but steady, reliable Obama is always there to clean stuff up. But today, officially there’s no more denying it: at the end of the week, the whole darn thing is going to be in Trump’s hands.
Don’t worry though, I’m here to help! Read this unbelievable tv listing for Trump’s Inauguration from Scotland’s Sunday Herald, if you haven’t yet seen it. It’s written by their tv critic Damian Love. It’s not exactly funny, since it’s too painfully true, but it’s nice to see someone “tell it like it is” back in Trump’s direction for a change:
And, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., a quote from his 1967 Steeler Lecture, part of a series of five speeches collected in the book The Trumpet of Conscience: “In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”
It’s like we’ve been invaded by aliens!

Aliens might be better. At least they could bring us cool stuff from their home planet!
